CODE:RED

<p><em>CODE:RED</em> (1999/2000-2004) is an ongoing project which explores and discusses selected aspects of prostitution and sex work as a specific kind of parallel economy. The project takes the form of an open dialogue between artists, sex workers and the public in a selected micro-environment and within a local context. Sex work can no longer be viewed as a local or national phenomenon; it is a global phenomenon, involving migrant and mutli-cultural groups.</p> <p>This book is the first version of the comprehensive visual diary of the <em>CODE:RED</em> project and includes discussions, lectures, actions, performances, interventions and public events such as the acclaimed <em>1st World Congress of Sex Workers and New Parasitism</em> (Venice, 2001), <em>Red Umbrellas March</em> (Venice, Salonika, 2001), <em>Unveiling of the Monument to an Unknow Prostitute</em> (Ljubljana, 2002), <em>The Ultimate Sex Workers Conspiracy Soirée: Conference and Party</em> (New York, 2002), <em>Stripping with Marx</em> (Berlin, 2002), and many others.</p>
