“I’m just a girl asking for damnatio memoriae in an amnesiac network”

—‘HYPER IND3XICAL: intermediality and your face’ is an artist zine published by Ahmad Makia Hyperhouse which Ruba Al-Sweel created in micro doses over 2 years.

It’s an emblem or evidence of something that has occurred, with the face spun through Charles Sanders Peirce’s triadic model of the sign. The face is evidence, and evidence is not verifiable.

From ancient allegory and Greek tragedy to the first dox in history and Kim k as the face of techno horror at scale—the publication plays with the humdrum violences of living in a world where the face is public domain.
