<p>Three discrete A5 publications were produced for our two events and screening programme at MK Gallery, Milton Keynes, which were collected together in a specially made outer-jacket.</p> <div class="series-title"> <p>The second series of Open File events was comprised of two events and a screening programme at MK Gallery, Milton Keynes. Examining the concept of temporary spaces, the series sought to ask the question; what does it mean to create a context within a context?</p> </div> <p>Staged in and around Olivia Plender’s <em>Rise Early, Be Industrious</em> Installation at MK Gallery, <em>Temporary Sites (A Proposal) </em>suggests the idea of exhibition making as a temporal as well as a physical space. A Utopian proposal for an undefined site that enables a specific range of social and aesthetic dynamics to take place.</p> <p>The Brechtian idea of the fourth wall—the imaginary wall set at the front of the stage, through which the audience are looking—arose with theatrical realism. Concerned with the imaginary boundary between the work and audience <i>Admitting the Flats</i> took the exhibition setting as a device for the staging temporary fictions.</p> <p><em>Symposium</em> brought together four performances that through their various forms reflexively examine the structure of the lecture or talk.</p>
