Superficial

This edition of ZIGG is interested in exploring sex as an evolutionary psychology. ZIGG deals with superficiality, sexuality and irregularity. Contains two long conversations conducted by Ahmad Makia: ‘Gulf Bionic’ with the Dubai artist Raja’a Khalid, on masculinity, consumerism, bodywork and the engineered, non-biotic ecology of the Gulf; and ‘What Was Gulf Futurism’ with the Tehran writer and curator Mahan Moalemi, on ethnofuturisms, chronopolitics and inhuman temporalities. Closes with the ZIGG communiqué and a short history of the UAE’s contemporary cultural industry since 2005. It includes text messages, illustrations, drawings, poetry, code, conversation, rants, and essays.
